In the year 1995, Mr. Norbert Kottmann initiated the success story of today’s EuRec Environmental Technology GmbH by founding his own company. This was the beginning of EuRec Technology GmbH Entsorgungsanlagen to get started.

Milestone 2
Purchase of an insolvent manufacturer of shredding technology
Just one year later, in 1996, EuRec bought an insolvent manufacturer of shredding technology and took over the entire development department.
Milestone 3
Development of own mechanical engineering and process technology
Resting on the know-how taken over was not the concept of EuRec, so in the same year, EuRec started to develop own mechanical and process engineering for the mechanical-biological plant in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany. That process lasted till the year 2003.

Cooperation with the University of Rostock
Ideas and developments must undergo practical tests and applications, therefore, in 1997 EuRec started a cooperation with the Institute for Landscaping and Waste Management of the University of Rostock. A lot of field studies were carried out, the most known project is an expertise with regard to the examination of the storage and emission behavior of residual waste pressed and packed in round bales.

Reorganisation
In the year 2004, EuRec Technology GmbH Entsorgungsanlagen was transformed into the EuRec Unternehmensgruppe, consisting of EPG mbH Entsorgungsanlagen, EuRec Technology Sales & Distribution GmbH and EuRec Technology GmbH Development & Design.

Receipt of a research contract
In 2005, the EuRec Unternehmensgruppe received an official research contract of the Federal Republic of Germany on the field of biological waste treatment.
Milestone 7
Award ceremony
2007, EuRec won the innovation award for its RBS-2 Round Baling System in the category “Environmental technology”. Long-term research and development led to this prize.
Milestone 8
Restructuring
In January 2016, company founder Norbert Kottmann left EuRec. Together with a strategic partner, his son, Christoph Kottmann, carries on with the company. The EuRec Unternehmensgruppe was merged into the company EuRec Environmental Technology GmbH. The entire team was taken over, Mr. Wienands became second managing director.
Milestone 9
25 Years of EuRec
The year 2021 marks the 25-year company history of EuRec in Merkers, and even the corona pandemic could not harm the company. In the usual high quality, machines for waste treatment continue to leave the Thuringia site in order to be used all over the world.
